       Rina Schiller is an ambitious and talented software engineer and activist passionate about building technology for social change. She is currently a Masters of Engineering Candidate in Computer Science at Cornell University. Rina mentors for Open Classrooms, teaching and supporting students just learning how to code. She also is a Wogrammer fellow where she writes about successful and inspiring women in STEM.


       She previously worked as a software engineer at JPMorgan Chase for two years and interned at AOL, The Seelig Group, and the Financial Women's Association where she developed Android apps, Google Home actions, and web applications. She is skilled in Java, Python, Javascript, web development, and back-end services.

       Rina graduated as Valedictorian for the Class of 2017 from CUNY (City University of New York) Hunter College in the Macaulay Honors program. She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Emerging Media and minors in Computer Science and Women and Gender Studies.

Wrote an instructed Build Your Web Project with Rest APIs for Open Classrooms, an online education platform with more 2.5 million users. The course has 60%+ completion rate.

Political Sexism on Twitter - PST

A web app that displays sexist tweets about female politicians and their locations of origin in real-time using  Twitter and Google Maps APIs, Flask, Bootstrap, and SocketIO.

BiteSize News

BiteSize News is an app that uses NLP to generate a video summary from a text-based article that is perfect for social media sharing in minutes. Project was selected to present in Cornell Tech's Open Studio.

Constitute (WIP)

An updated version of PST that detects harassment against female politicians on Twitter using sentiment analysis and data visualizations. Winner of the GenEquality Hackathon. Built using Django, React, Posgres, Redis, & D3.js
